Failure to Report an Accident

Shrewsbury Attorney:
Leaving the Scene of an Accident

Under New Jersey law, penalties for leaving the scene of an accident may be as high as $2000, 6 months in jail, and permanent loss of driving privileges in the state.

If you are driving a vehicle involved in a traffic accident that involves property damage or injury, you are required to stop, show your driver's license and insurance information to the owners of the other vehicle(s) involved, and notify the police. If you hit a car which was unattended, you are required to notify police of the accident. If you are injured and unable to make a report at the time of the accident, you are responsible for doing so as soon as possible.

If you have been charged with leaving the scene of an accident, failure to report an accident, or any other traffic violation, and would like to discuss defense representation with a traffic lawyer from The Law Offices of John F. Marshall, please contact our Shrewsbury office and arrange a free consultation.
