Brooklyn Man Arrested & Charged with Credit Card Fraud in Jersey City
A thirty-three year old Brooklyn resident was arrested and charged with several counts of credit card fraud and forgery following an incident in a Jersey City supermarket this week. According to the reports released thus far, the Defendant, a thirty-three year old Brooklyn resident, attempted to use a credit card while purchasing several items at a ShopRite in Jersey City. Unfortunately for him, the credit card that he attempted to use was suspended. The Defendant then attempted to use three other credit cards, each leading to the same result.
Based on that, the cashier called over the store’s security guard to investigate further. They placed the Defendant in their security office until the Jersey City police arrived. Once they arrived, they quickly determined that the Defendant was in possession of seven credit cards. The officer’s then attempted to verify the credit cards by calling customer service. They all reported that they have no records of the credit cards existing. The Defendant was arrested and charged with several counts of fraudulent use of a credit card and forgery. The Defendant was taken to the Hudson County Jail which is located in Kearny, New Jersey. He remains there being held on a $10,000 bail. He made his first appearance via video link at the Central Judicial Processing Court, which is located in Jersey City.
