Port Authority Police Arrest Carteret Resident and Charge him with DWI in Weehawken NJ
It appears that the Port Authority Police may have been able to make an arrest right in the nick of time. According to the reports released thus far, they were able to pull over a Carteret resident, who is alleged to have been driving the wrong way down a one way, heading directly for the Holland Tunnel off ramp. When the officers approached the Defendant’s window, they were allegedly overcome by the strong odor of alcohol emanating from inside the vehicle. Based on their observations, the Defendant was asked to perform some standardized field sobriety tests. However, the police alleged that the Defendant was so intoxicated that they could not allow him to perform the tests safely. As a result, the Defendant was arrested and charged with reckless driving, driving while intoxicated, driving the wrong way down a one way and driving while intoxicated in a school zone.
