Attorney Paul Koutouzakis

Paul Koutouzakis is one of the newest members of the team at the Law Offices of Jonathan Marshall. He became an associate in 2018 after almost ten years practicing traffic and criminal defense throughout New Jersey. He began his legal career in the mid 1990s as a State Court Prosecutor in Cobb County, Georgia just outside of Atlanta. There, he was trained in and concentrated primarily on the prosecution of DUI and domestic violence related matters.

Paul received his undergraduate degree from Emory University and graduated from the University of North Carolina School of Law in Chapel Hill in 1994 where he was SBA President and participated in a clinical program at the Chapel Hill Public Defender’s Office. This sparked his passion for the criminal justice system and led to his work in the prosecutor’s office.

Born in Essex County, Paul moved back and passed the NJ bar exam in 2004. After spending a few years teaching law students how to pass the bar in the subjects of criminal law, criminal procedure, and evidence, he embarked upon his practice in criminal and traffic citation defense work. He has tried multiple DWI cases, domestic violence FRO hearings, and various other Municipal Court matters with a success rate of over 70%. Paul has spent a great deal of time at NJ Motor Vehicle Commission hearings reversing, limiting, and decreasing NJ drivers license suspensions to the delight of many clients. He was a member of the Hudson County Bar Association for some time until he moved to Monmouth County where he lives currently with his wife and eleven year old son.

He brings an enthusiasm and positive spirit to his work believing in and fighting for clients in way that is rarely seen in the legal profession. As an Eagle Scout he enjoys spending time in the outdoors with his family.
