Lyndhurst Man Arrest for Stealing Hoboken Bartender’s Cellphone off the Bar
On Sunday May 17, 2015, the Hoboken police department responded to the Wicked Wolf Tavern in Hoboken in reports of a missing iphone 6. According to the reports released thus far, a bartender at the Wicked Wolf Tavern had her iphone 6 stolen right off the bar as she was assisting other customers. When the police arrived, the checked the surveillance footage which allegedly clearly showed a patron swiping the iphone off the bar. and placing it into his pocket. When the police approached the suspect, he apparently created some story about how he found the iphone on the ground and that it wasn’t him who swiped it off the bar.
As a result of the surveillance video, the suspect was arrested and charged with theft of moveable property. He was later released on a summons and bail was set at an ROR status. Since the iphone 6 is valued at more then $500, the Defendant was most likely charged with theft of moveable property in the third degree. A third degree felony in New Jersey is punishable by up to 5 years in a New Jersey State Prison and a fine up to $15,000. The Defendant will most likely have to appear at the Central Judicial Processing Court, also known as CJP in Jersey City this week for his arraignment.
