Aggravated Assault on Police Officer & Marijuana Charges for Bayonne Man
It is alleged that a Bayonne New Jersey resident shoved a borough police officer and discarded a small amount of marijuana as he attempted to flee on foot. To make matters worse, it has also been reported that once the officers were able to apprehended the Defendant, he continued to resist arrest while they attempted to place the handcuffs on him. It is unclear at this point in time why the officer first approached the Defendant. However, based on the events that unfolded, the Defendant has been arrested and charged with aggravated assault on a police officer, resisting arrest, possession of marijuana under 50 grams as well as obstructing the administration of justice. In addition, once the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office reviews the charges, they may file third degree eluding charges as well.
The Defendant was taken to the Bayonne Police Department to be processed. He was later released on a summons and was not taken to the Hudson County Jail. His first court date will be at the Hudson County Central Judicial Processing Court which is located in Jersey City.
