What Is The Difference Between Statutory Rape & Rape?

The term “rape” is classically used to refer to conduct characterized by penetration of another person by force or when they are incapacitated. In contrast, statutory rape refers to intercourse or penetration that is consented to by a person who is either below the age of consent or, alternatively, has achieved the age of consent but has intercourse with someone with supervisory authority (e.g. coach, teacher, etc.).
